DIRECTV announced today the start of local HD broadcasting in Knoxville, Tennessee. Viewers in the Knoxville market area can now see local news and prime time network broadcasts in HD when available. Subscibers must have qualifying equipment and programming packages for local HD access.
The local HD channels available in the Knoxville area include:

-WVLT/CBS
-WTNZ-FOX
-WBIR/NBC
DIRECTV satellite now offers local HD broadcasts in 72 cities representing more than 74% of U.S. households.
