DIRECTV Expands Local HD

DIRECTV announced yesterday the start of local HD broadcasting in two new markets, Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Louisville, Kentucky. DIRECTV satellite customers in these markets can now see local news programming, as well as network broadcasts in HD when available. Local channel HD access requires qualifying equipment and programming packages.

The local HD channels available in the Cedar Rapids-Waterloo, Iowa area include:

-KWWL/NBC

-KGAN/CBS

-KFXA/FOX

Additional local channel HD will be added when available.

Local HD channels now available in the Louisville, Kentucky area are:

WHAS/ABC

WLKY/CBS

WDRB/FOX

WAVE/NBC

DIRECTV now offers local HD broadcasts in 76 cities representing almost 76% of U.S. households.
