DISH Network Adds More Local HD

DISH Network continued its roll-out of local HD today, with four new markets being added. These markets are part of DISH Network’s recent announcement that they will be expanding their local HD reach by 60% through the months of April and May. The new additions are:

  • Cleveland, Ohio (Akron and Canton)
  • Milwaukee, Wisconsin
  • Richmond-Petersburg, Virginia
  • Tampa-St. Petersburg, Florida (Sarasota)

With the additions, DISH Network now reaches 43 markets covering 58% of U.S. television households. By comparison, Direct TV currently reaches  77 markets representing 76% of television households.

The next few cities rumored to be getting an HD upgrade are Baltimore, Green Bay, and Columbia, possibly later this week.
