Many customers in the AT&T footprint have been asking when they can get U-verse service. The primary reason for their interest in this new service is that it offers an alternative to the cable TV triple play. While satellite services like Dish Network offered an alternative to cable as far as video service goes, the U-verse Triple play can provide all three services for you, cutting out the need to order anything from your cable provider. In addition, the technology utilized by AT&T is cutting edge providing the subscriber with the latest when it comes to TV and internet service.
The U-verse Triple play is composed of the U-verse TV service, U-verse high speed internet, and U-verse voice. Recently, AT&T modified some of their packages, allowing their customers to pick what sort of voice service they want to use. Since so many people now use their cell phones exclusively, and have disconnected their home phone service, AT&T recognized this and allows you to bundle your AT&T wireless service with the other U-verse products. Pricing is of course higher using AT&T wireless as part of your U-verse Triple play, but it is a nice option to have.
AT&T U-verse TV is the primary piece of the Triple play package. Here you can find all of the channels that are normally found on cable like CNN, ESPN, Fox News, Discovery channel and of course your local channels as well. There are several levels of service, such as the all inclusive U450 package or the U200 which is comparable to most digital cable TV bundles.
Once you have selected your TV package, the next step is figuring out which high speed internet service level you want with your U-verse triple play. With AT&T, there are five different levels of service, though some of the higher speeds may not be available to you depending on the location of your home. The U-verse speed levels are:
Pro – 3 Mbps
Elite – 6 Mbps
Max – 12 Mbps
Max plus – 18 Mbps
Max Turbo – 24 Mbps
Prices for AT&T Internet range from $35 to $65 a month, though as part of the U-verse Triple play you can usually get a lower price overall.
The final piece to the U-verse Triple Play is voice service. As mentioned earlier, you can combine your AT&T cell phone with U-verse service if you don’t want home phone service. Pricing can vary quite a bit depending on the minute plan you select and the number of cell phones you have. If you do want the U-verse home phone, there are two plans to pick from. AT&T U-verse Voice unlimited offers calling throughout the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico for a flat $35 a month. U-verse Voice 250 offers unlimited local calling, and 250 minutes a month of long distance calling.
One of the nice things about the U-verse Triple play is that you can combine services to make a package that fits your needs. For example, if you want plenty of TV content, but just the minimum when it comes to internet service, you could order the U-450 plus the U-verse Pro internet package. There are also great U-verse deals available, as they have continued their cash back promotions that enticed so many in 2009. Some of the AT&T Uverse Triple play packages offer up to $400 back for new customers, depending on your subscription. Generally the best Uverse deals are for customers who order online, and you will want to review the fine print so that you can get your cash back in a timely manner.
