After the year is up, the regular price kicks in and you are contractually obligated to stay for two years total. Knowing that this discounted rate will come to an end after one year can mitigate some of the sticker shock.

We have switched over to DRECTV and have saved a lot of money from what we were paying with cable. I have had know problem with the service, like it better the cable to be honest. Lost of advantages.
